Lockout Tagout (LOTO)
Lockout/Tagout Training
Lockout or Tagout must be used to control hazardous energy whenever anyone is servicing or maintaining machinery where unexpected operation of the machinery could cause injury. This course will cover the requirements outlined in the OSHA regulations 29 CFR Part 1910.147, The Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout).
You will obtain a certificate of completion upon conclusion of the training program.
Course Objectives
- Convey requirements of 29 CFR 1910.147 and other comparable OSHA regulations.
- Being able to define what is meant by and when to use Lockout/Tagout.
- Being able to identify the importance of LOTO.
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of anyone involved with Lockout Tagout, from employers to employees to contractors.
- How LOTO applies to the job.
- Knowing how and when to implement the Lockout Tagout “refresher” training.
- Knowing and being able to identify the various types of hazardous energy associated with your equipment or process.
- Being able to list the requirements of an Energy Control Program.
- Being able to recognize how and when to correctly apply locks and additional devises using LOTO.
- Knowing the pros and cons and limitations of locks and tags when using Lockout/Tagout.
- Identifying the steps of applying lockout/tagout, including accurate notification, energy hazard awareness and controlling the hazards (blanking and bleeding off energy), implementing Lockout Tagout, doing the actual work, removing locks and tags to restart the equipment and completing proper documentation.
- Working with outside contractors.
